The Region 1 cross country meet got underway at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock and three El Paso runners earned a trip to the state meet.

The 2025 state meet is scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock.

The top four teams from regionals and the 10 fastest individuals not on a qualifying team earn a trip to the state meet.

Runners in Classes 1A, 3A and 5A competed on Monday, Oct. 20.

Class 5A

Hanks girls cross country runner Ashlyn McMillan qualified for state with a time of 19:45.40 in the 5K race. She placed 16th overall on Monday. "It's a great feeling to make state. It's the first time to qualify for state. I was battling some knee issues, but I just pished through."
