For over 20 years, an American metal band has had to stand aside and watch as an anonymous individual used their group name for a website.

Recently, though, the band has taken action.

According to Louder Sound , Slipknot — the masked metal group from Des Moines, Iowa, that’s been around since the 1990s — has finally filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia Alexandria Division against slipknot.com.

DNW repots how the band has been forced to use the domain name slipknot1.com, as an unknown person (or persons) registered slipknot.com back in 2001. The lawsuit claims slipknot.com — despite not being officially associated with the band — displays pay-per-click ad links for “concert tickets,” “Slipknot merchandise,” and “concert VIP
