Police are issuing a warning after getting several reports about a coyote being spotted in different areas of the city, but mostly in the area of West Haven High School.

On Friday, two people were briefly chased by the coyote near the high school, police said. No one was injured.

"Please remember that coyotes are common in Connecticut and are generally not a threat to people. However, they are wild animals and can become aggressive," police said in a Facebook post.

West Haven police are working with its animal control officer and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to try and safely relocate the coyote.
