If you tuned in for the premiere of Boston Blue on CBS last week, you may have been surprised to see one Blue Bloods star had been recast.

Mika Amonsen is now portraying the role of Sean Reagan in the CBS drama spinoff, a role originated by Andrew Terraciano in the flagship series. In fact, Andrew actually played the role in 292 episodes of the drama series.

Now, co-showrunner Brandon Margolis is explaining the decision.

Brandon told Variety , “We love Andrew and the work he did over the years on ‘Blue Bloods.’ Really, it came down to we’re telling a new chapter in both of their lives.
