Police in Sooke are investigating after two dogs were shot on Sunday morning, leaving one dead and the other seriously injured.
Mounties say they were called just before noon on Oct. 19 to the 2500-block of Farmer Drive, where two dogs had been struck by gunfire.
Surveillance footage captured shots being fired around 11:46 a.m., followed by one of the animals collapsing in a nearby driveway.
One dog died at the scene while the second was taken to a local veterinarian for emergency treatment. RCMP say the deceased animal has been seized and a necropsy is planned in the coming days.
“At the outset, these set of circumstances seem very concerning and we will continue to seek clarity on why this happened and whether it was criminal in nature,” Sooke RCMP Staff-Sgt. Greg Willcocks said in a
