A roughly 1.4 kilometre stretch of Wallace Drive is going to have a lowered speed limit to match the two school zones on either side, according to the District of Central Saanich.

The section of road between Bayside Middle School and Brentwood Bay Elementary School currently has a speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour, except in the school and playground zones in their designated reduced speed limit hours.

Starting at some point this month, the stretch of road will see its speed limit changed to 30 km/h.

The district says the change is in response to requests from the community to improve safety on the road and have a continuous driving speed.
