Four people are charged in a deadly Gary shooting that killed a man and wounded two others just outside a Clark Road apartment complex, records show.
Antonio D. Brown, 20, Damarion Crossley, Derrick Nicholson and Samuel Shelhart were charged in the Oct. 17 murder of Jace Smith, 19, of Gary.
Crossley, the alleged shooter, told police he tried to “aim low” while targeting the trio in retaliation for an argument that spiraled into gunshots fired at him near Chase Street days earlier, charges state.
Smith was shot once in the head. His death was ruled a homicide.
Gary Police responded on Oct. 17 to an apartment building on the 300 block of Clark Road where they found a half-dozen .40-caliber spent bullet casings, Detective James Nielsen wrote.
