The criminal cases against two men who caused a three-vehicle crash while racing on a Killeen street in 2020, have been resolved; however, both men remain defendants in a $1 million civil lawsuit that was filed in a Bell County district court in March of that year.
Cequil Shaq Clemons, 30, and co-defendant Fredrick Lamarr Mayhan, 53, each were indicted on May 27, 2020, on a second-degree felony charge of racing on a highway causing serious bodily injury.
Clemons was sentenced on Sept. 28, 2023, to 10 years in prison, which he is serving at the Gist Unit in Beaumont, according to records from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Last week, on Oct. 16, Mayhan, who already had pleaded guilty on Aug. 22, was sentenced by Judge Paul LePak to five years of deferred adjudication probation.
