Newnan delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Friday night, defeating Lovejoy 38-28 to notch a key Region 3-AAAAAA victory and extend its winning streak to two games.

Running back Kam Davis put the Cougars on the board early with a 4-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, followed by Quint Johnson’s extra point for a 7-0 lead. Lovejoy tied it moments before the end of the quarter with a 20-yard scoring run to make it 7-7.

The Cougars seized control in the second quarter. Quarterback Brodie Campbell connected with Jaylen Britt on a 25-yard pass to set up Shawn Grier’s 1-yard touchdown plunge, putting Newnan ahead 14-7.
