YOUNGSTOWN Humane agents are currently on the scene of what is being described as a cat hoarding situation in Youngstown.

Animal Charity Coordinator Jane MacMurchy tells 21 News humane agents are currently at a home on South Maryland Avenue, where humane agents say about 21 cats have been found so far.

Humane agents say there may be even more cats in the house.

MacMurchy tells 21 News all of the cats were underweight, dehydrated, covered in urine and feces and wounded by fleas. Additionally, about half of the cats had eye and respiratory infections.

This is part of a joint investigation between Animal Charity and the Mahoning County Children Services Board. MacMurchy says multiple children, as well as an elderly woman were removed from the home.
