The massive Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that has disrupted online activity around the world is also impacting Amtrak customers' ability to make reservations.

"Amtrak is currently experiencing intermittent technical difficulties that are impacting several key services," the rail service announced on its website Monday morning.

Customers were given the following information: • Our Customer Care Center and station staff are unable to update existing reservations or process payments. • Customers are currently unable to book reservations through Amtrak.com or the mobile app. • Customer communications via SMS, email, and push notifications are temporarily disrupted.
