A second independent contender for South Dakota governor plans to run in 2026.

Sioux Falls community activist Allison Renville, a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, declared her intent to run for the gubernatorial seat, according to an Oct. 19 news release issued on her social media channels.

Renville, a registered independent, was "born and raised in northeast South Dakota." She currently lives in Sioux Falls.
