St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newnan opened its doors to the community on Oct. 12 for an afternoon of faith and artistry with an event titled Religion in the Arts.
More than 135 people attended, including guests from surrounding churches, for a program that blended music, dance, poetry and visual art into an immersive spiritual experience. The church nave was transformed into a sacred space exploring themes of hope, love, light, humility, surrender, joy, transcendence and journey.
Dawn McCord, organist at Newnan First United Methodist Church, helped create the event three years ago, believing in the power of the arts to draw people into a deeper connection with the divine.
