FESTUS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As data center development makes national headlines, Festus’ Planning and Zoning Commission made changes to the city’s zoning code ahead of any developers interested in building.

“I don’t see it slowing down,” said board member Rick Belleville. “There’s all types of data centers and they’re gonna continue to grow and they’re gonna continue to look for locations.”

The board met Thursday night to modify the city’s zoning to code to draft regulations for data centers.

City leaders tell First Alert 4 so far, there has not been any specific interest in Festus from data center developers, but they have been observing other conversations, including the possibility of a data center being built at the shuttered Armory .
