Young Beau Rose was one of the hundreds of local residents who got a peek of the array of equipment that firefighters rely upon to save lives during open house and unveiling of the new north-end Cornwall fire station at the corner of Tollgate Road and Brookdale Avenue.

Beau wasn’t shy in particular examining a dummy who was extricated from a badly damaged motor vehicle. He was then invited by fourth-class firefighter Eric Hurtubise to take a closer look at the extrication cutting tool.

Hurtubise and his crew had just demonstrated the extrication of a Chevy sedan, donated by Herb’s Towing, one of the many Cornwall Fire Services’ partners who provide resources for firefighter training.

The open house allowed many hundreds to browse the various aspects of firefighting.
