SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - A major internet outage impacted users around the globe. Amazon Web Services was hit with an outage early Monday morning, impacting services worldwide, including right here in western Massachusetts, and at our station.
Monday afternoon, Amazon said that progress is being made, but not everything is back to normal as of this moment. This was not just any regular outage, from what we understand, Amazon’s cloud computing service impacted several websites and apps.
It all started just after midnight, when Amazon said they were investigating what they called “Increased error rates and latencies for multiple A.W.S. services.” Then, by about 5:00 a.m., Amazon said they identified a cause, saying it came from an error in a system that is meant to manage database
