LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A program that provides seniors with food assistance will continue to operate without interruption. The state has resolved a funding shortage.

In a letter to state lawmakers on Friday, the state’s budget director announced the executive branch will reallocate $9.1 million to senior meal programs. It comes weeks after providers were told no more money was left for the fiscal year and that they should look at cutting back services.

Speaking to reporters virtually Monday afternoon, Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., committed to ensuring senior meal programs like Meals on Wheels will get the money needed to continue operations.
