A boy aged 13 has been charged with robbery, assault and breach of bail offences over an alleged crime spree in Sydney this month.
Events began last Tuesday when police were called to a hotel on Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, over reports of a robbery.
Officers were told an unknown boy had stolen a 36-year-old woman's backpack before running away.
Shortly later, an alleged assault was reported at Central Station, where a 59-year-old man intervened when the same boy was following a group of women.
Police learnt the man confronted the teenager to give the women time to leave the area.
The boy is accused of punching the man several times in the face before attempting to steal items from him.
No medical treatment was necessary for the man.
