Gina Swoboda, the Arizona Republican Party chair, will run for Congress with an endorsement from President Donald Trump, she announced Oct. 20.

The endorsement from the president makes Swoboda the early frontrunner in what already is a nationally watched swing district primary.

The incumbent, veteran Rep. David Schweikert, R-Arizona, announced in September 2025 that he will run for governor of Arizona rather than seek reelection to Congress.
