A former Columbia police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in his custody while on duty now faces additional charges.

On Monday, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Caleb Oshia Hickmon-Payne, 27, with Criminal Sexual Conduct - Third Degree and Misconduct in Office

The Columbia Police Department requested the SLED investigation. Hickmon-Payne was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County.

SLED previously charged Hickmon-Payne on March 12 , 2025, with Assault & Battery 2nd Degree and Misconduct in Office.

According to SLED warrants, Hickmon-Payne drove his CPD-issued vehicle to a dark area on Colonial Drive, turned off his GPS unit, and had sexual intercourse with the woman in his custody.
