FARGO — The Salvation Army in Fargo is recruiting volunteers for its annual Red Kettle campaign, the organization’s largest single fundraiser.
Donations raised during the campaign go back into the community, supporting programs such as rent and utility assistance, children and adult programs, first responder efforts and more than 40,000 meals served annually. Some funds also help cover the Salvation Army’s operating costs.
Last season, the Red River Valley area raised roughly $801,000 for the Red Kettle campaign.
“We never have enough volunteers to keep all the sites occupied all the time. So the more volunteers we have, the more effective we are raising the funds that we need to meet the needs of people throughout the entire year,” said Maj. Abe Tamayo, of the Fargo Salvation Army.
