TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Hillsborough County Judge ordered the Walton Academy Charter school to close on Friday. The ruling followed a hearing on safety concerns at the school.
However, parents say the ruling on late Friday left them scrambling on Monday to find new schools for their children.
Teri Gay said she was happy with her children at Walton Academy and didn't want them to leave.
"I like that it was family oriented, the staff and everybody was more your family. They knew you by name, they could see you and know exactly who your kids are," Gay said.
She said she never worried about the safety concerns brought up by state and county officials about the school.
