SAVANNAH Ga. (WSAV) – The 2025 Public Service Commission (PSC) election is the first one Georgia has seen since 2020, and a large topic of conversation is power bills and their effect on residents.

The two seats open on the PSC are for District 2 and District 3. District 2 Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols is running to keep his seat. During his time in the position, citizens have seen multiple rate hikes in power bills, but he placed a freeze on those levels.

“Everybody knows, as you look at your bill, it's got several components, environmental charges. It has fuel charges that have no utility profit in it. And we anticipate that the that the fuel charge is going to come off of the bill dropped by about $16 next year,” said Echols.
