NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — $3.2 million in grants was announced Monday to support environmental efforts in and around New Bedford.
City, state and federal officials, including New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell and U.S. Congressman Bill Keating, said local organizations will receive funding for high-priority environmental projects.
The money and assistance stem from the Southeast New England Program (SNEP), which is funded by Congress and managed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). SNEP aims to restore clean water, protect ecosystems and promote sustainability across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
