A registered sex offender from New Orleans was arrested Monday and jailed on 27 counts of possession of pornography involving children under the age of 13, according to Attorney General Liz Murrill's office.
David Morel Jr., 42, was apprehended and booked into the Orleans Parish jail after authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officials with Murrill's office said.
Morel lived on Glacier Court in Algiers, according to Murrill's office, but he wasn't listed in New Orleans' sex offender registry. A national registry shows that Morel at one point lived in Sand Rock, Alabama, and was convicted of a child porn charge in Louisiana in 2015.
The multi-agency investigation is ongoing and involves the New Orleans Police Department, Louisiana Bureau
