ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man has been sentenced to 90 years in prison without parole for drug trafficking, according to the Newton County district attorney.
The district attorney said Loyd Freeman Avant III distributed narcotics from his Newton County home. A search of the home turned up 150 grams of methamphetamine, 163 grams of heroin, 865 grams of carfentanil, multiple guns and over $70,000.
Carfentanil was originally developed as a tranquilizer for large animals.
According to the district attorney, Avant admitted the drugs were his and told agents that he would have had more if they came on a different day.
