LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -At a hair salon in the Eastwood Towne Center, Barb McKessy has the chair on the left and Suzi Wyman the one on the right. They’ve been cutting and coloring hair together for more than five decades.

They share a passion for the women who sit in their chairs.

“They’re the ones we have conversations with all the time,” McKessy said.

In a place where they focus on beauty, sometimes those conversations are about breast cancer.

“They’re the ones that tell us their stories, you know, and we listen,” Wyman said.

What they’ve heard over and over again from breast cancer patients is the need for financial support.

“And so that’s where we step in,” Wyman said.

Seventeen years ago they created a fundraising banquet called “It’s a Breast Thing.”
