(WVNY/WFFF) - We're now in week four of the government shutdown, and food assistance program leaders say tens-of-thousands of Vermonters' benefits are now on the chopping block.
USDA officials say there will not be enough money to fund snap benefits for all 40 million people nationwide if the shutdown stretches into November.
Vermont receives $12-to-13 million in benefits each month.
