SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - ACT scores have continued to drop in the state over the last five years.

Is it the resources? Is it the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic? Or is it the technological distractions students face today?

Many questions are being raised as to why ACT scores are dropping in the state and how they will be affected once the state starts requiring the test to be taken.

Although faring better than scores nationally, South Dakota’s Average Composite ACT score has dropped from 21.6 to 21.0 for the last five graduating classes.

Joseph Graves, the Secretary of the state’s Department of Education says students are very aware of their technological distractions.
