VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — It's not every day that you can get a quick lesson on those pesky over the water short shots to the green from two-time British Open and U.S. Open champion Ernie Els.
But it wasn't just another day for Els, who was at the Princess Anne Country Club with his wife Liezl Monday, a day after finishing tied for second in a senior PGA Tour event in Richmond, to raise money for the Els for Autism Foundation.
In the practice area at Princess Anne Country Club, you could hear a golf tee drop as Els explained why the left arm, usually described as the strong arm in a swing, should be relaxed while hitting such shots.
"I'm hitting it OK," Els said about his own game. "I'm going to see today. It's going to be a lot of fun today."
