BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The woman accused of beating a 55-year-old woman to death in a hospital room on Sept. 10 has been recaptured, according to the NYPD.

Racquel Haughton, 44, was previously arrested for assault but disappeared after being released while the Bronx District Attorney's Office was waiting for more evidence of the homicide.

Police arrested Haughton around 2 p.m. on Monday and charged her with assault and manslaughter.

Cynthia Vann, 55, had been checked into NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in the Bronx for an underlying medical condition when she was punched in the head multiple times at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 10, according to the NYPD.
