The Good Energy people returned to Barrington in early October and asked town officials to extend the electricity aggregation contract for another five years.

The request might have been better received had the current contract been closer to its expiration.

Barrington Town Council member Kate Berard, during the Oct. 6 meeting, said the town was only halfway through its contract — two-and-a-half years into the five-year deal. She said an extension at this point in time seemed a little off.

Barrington is part of a seven-town electricity aggregation program that was organized by the consulting firm Good Energy. The program is designed to offer businesses and residents affordable electricity rates while guaranteeing a portion of the electricity was generated through renew
