Port Alberni RCMP is investigating following a suspicious fire early Monday morning.

Firefigters got the call just at 4:15 Monday morning. When they arrived at the McIntyre Drive home they found a mobile home engulfed in flames with mobile homes close by on either side.

“Crews worked quickly to knock the fire down to prevent spread to those other trailers and then advanced inside the home to start suppressing the fire itself,” said Chief Mike Owens of the Port Alberni Fire Department

The commotion of the fire and the power going out awoke some neighbours.

“I heard some screaming and then I heard a big loud explosion, and I got up, stood on my deck, and I could see the fire, and I said Jenn, get up, there’s a fire so we got up, got dressed and went out there to make sure it wasn’t going
