GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Greene County Commission on Monday voted on the first of two readings to scrap the office of constable. It also rejected a resolution that would have urged the state to repeal COPA and Certificate of Need laws.
According to the commission's agenda for Monday's meeting, the resolution would have declared Greene County as an entity that officially urged the state to "repeal Certificate of Need (CON) and Certificate of Public Advantage (COPA) laws to eliminate healthcare monopolies, restore competition, and improve access, affordability, and quality of care."
The resolution was aimed at Ballad Health, which operates all of the hospitals in the region.
The resolution ultimately failed to pass, with 15 voting no and five voting yes. An image of that vote can b
