KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Fifteen United Methodist Churches in Kingsport are teaming up to host a "Blessing of the Animals" event on Saturday.
“Our pets are precious to us,” Rev. Melissa Malcolm, organizer of the event, said in a news release. “And I believe they matter to God. We want to gather at the park and pray for our pets while have fun as a community. All are welcome.”
The event will run from 2 - 4 p.m. at Borden Park Shelter #2 (901 Lamont Street, Kingsport).
Animals are asked to be on a leash or in crates.
"We all want to come together and support our local shelters by collecting dog and cat food,” Rev. Timothy Robinson said in the release. "Feel free to bring bags or cans of food to the event and it will be delivered to the shelters."
