PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Gov. Katie Hobbs is heading to Mexico this week at a critical time for the state’s economy, leading a group of government and business leaders to strengthen ties with the Mexican government.

The major focus of the trip will be business with President Donald Trump’s tariff threats hanging over everything.

Mexico is Arizona’s biggest trading partner, with billions of dollars in goods crossing the border every year. Every truck that rolls into Nogales or Douglas means jobs, paychecks, and food on tables across the state.

All of that depends on what happens to the U.S.–Mexico–Canada Agreement , the free trade deal signed under Trump’s first term. It’s up for review next year, and the threat of new tariffs could complicate those discussions.
