LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - LG&E and KU have reached an agreement on its rate increase request.

They filed the agreement with the Kentucky Public Service Commission Monday.

The companies say the need the money to improve their infrastructure.

KU residential electric customers could see their bill go up $9 per month.

For LG&D residential electric customers, that increase would be around $5 per month and residential gas customers could see an increase of $8 a month.

The Public Service Commission still has to approve the rate increase.

If it’s approved, the new rates would be implemented no earlier than January 1 2026.
