NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A youth vote summit was held at Norfolk State University Monday night ahead of the November election.

Organizers say it was a way to help educate young Black voters. NextGen America, BET and the NAACP joined together for the event that organizers say was aimed at educating, connecting and mobilizing young black voters.

"Events like this are important because seeing people that look just like yourself get closer to the things that you want for yourself means a lot, because representation just matters on a major scale,” said Ahmad Davis, senior artist relations manager at United Masters.

Davis was one of the panelists at the Black Men's Summit.
