WINSTON-SALEM — The Winston-Salem State Rams romped more easily than expected against Livingstone on Saturday, thrashing the Blue Bears 42-10.

It was a CIAA homecoming at Bowman Gray Stadium, so the Rams were spurred on by a vocal crowd estimated at 10,000 fans.

In addition to a lot of red-clad fans, Livingstone ran into an angry team that was ticked off about its dismal showing at Shaw the previous week.

Jayden Grimes had a 54-yard scoring run for the Rams a minute into the game, and it was 14-0 after four minutes. It was 28-3 at the half.

Livingstone trailed 35-3 before it scored its only TD.

Jason Zapata kicked a 41-yard field goal for the Blue Bears (3-4, 2-3). Alfredo Sotelo threw a 13-yard TD pass to Jamail Haizlip.
