NEW LONDON — North Rowan’s four-game winning streak ended at North Stanly on Friday.
The Comets took a 35-23 victory over the Cavaliers that could mean a three-way tie for first place in the Yadkin Valley Conference. South Stanly, which beat North Stanly but lost to North Rowan, also is part of that deadlock. The top three will be heavily favored to win their remaining two league games.
Injuries hurt the Cavaliers (4-4, 4-1).
North Stanly (7-1, 4-1) rallied with a 21-point third quarter. The Comets did almost all of their damage on the ground, rushing for more than 200 yards.
North Rowan couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. A’son Best ran the opening kickoff back 86 yards for his third KOR TD of the season
