Victorians have been urged to prepare themselves and their properties for wild winds predicted to sweep across the state on Wednesday.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning on Tuesday for the entire state — except the far northwest — for a rapidly deepening low pressure system bringing “damaging, locally destructive winds” .
Areas close the the South Australian border are expected to be hit by damaging gusts of up to 100km/h in the morning, before the weather system pushed east throughout the day.
Winds of up to 120km/h are expected to be felt around parks of the Central District — including Geelong and the Morning Peninsula in the early afternoon, with south Gippsland being hit during the late afternoon.
