On Wednesday, October 15, three school board candidates spoke at the monthly Chaves County Federated Republican Women. ENMU-R President Shawn Powell also spoke, advocating for a mill levy increase to fund the expansion of community college training programs.

Larry Clark was the first mayoral candidate to take the podium. Clark said he wants to have an open door policy in which any citizen could come into his office and have coffee with the mayor. He said he wants to create a “Department of Expenditures” to ensure that taxpayer money is being spent properly, even though the City of Roswell is already in the process of hiring an independent auditor.
