High above a busy suburban road, a tiny koala clung on for dear life.

In a state of panic, the joey climbed as high as possible in a tree after becoming separated from its mother, prompting a rescue on the busy Gallipoli Rd in Carina Heights in Brisbane , Queensland , on Tuesday.

A wildlife rescuer said they first thought it was just one koala stuck by the roadside.

“Just got the call this morning about a koala on a busy road ... didn’t even know it had a baby until I got here,” Angela Christodoulou form Qld Koala Society said.

Firefighters carefully edged a cherry picker toward the frightened little joey.

“Couldn’t get a tree climber today … couldn’t get assistance so called in the experts of course and these guys are always willing,” she sa
