NORFOLK, Va. — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger is hoping to get a big boost in the days leading up to the election, with the help of former President Barack Obama.
Obama and Spanberger will hold a rally in Norfolk on Saturday, Nov. 1, the Spanberger campaign announced Tuesday, adding that it will be the first campaign visit to Hampton Roads by any Democratic president since Obama campaigned in 2012.
Last week, the two-term Democratic former president endorsed Spanberger's bid to become Virginia's next governor , calling Virginia's elections "some of the most important in the country this year."
Spanberger is up against Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, for whom President Donald Trump showed his support on Sunday .
