Prince Andrew is facing fresh questions about how he funds his lifestyle, amid growing calls for him to be removed from his 30-room mansion at Windsor’s Royal Lodge .
Pressure is mounting on Andrew to give up the estate after it emerged he has only paid a “peppercorn rent” on the property for more than 20 years.
The senior Conservative Robert Jenrick said it was “about time Prince Andrew took himself off to live in private” as “the public are sick of him”.
However, it has also emerged that the Crown Estate – which oversees royal properties, the revenues of which go to the public purse – would have to pay Andrew around £558,000 if he gave up the lease. New Feature
