A woman accused of a terrifying stabbing attack in Melbourne's CBD will remain behind bars after her bail application was dropped by her lawyers.

Lauren Darul is accused of a terrifying random attack on October 2, where she allegedly knifed a woman in the chest as she walked to work on Little Bourke Street.

Darul has been charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

Appearing via video link for a bail application today, the 32-year-old laughed manically into the camera before her bail application was dropped unexpectedly.

The court also heard that on the day of the alleged attack Darul was also facing upwards of 45 other charges.

That has now been reduced to 17, including theft and criminal damage.
