Plans for a new 24 hour gym in Edinburgh could see a Poundland shop transformed.

Developers have submitted an application to Edinburgh Council for the facility, which would be operated by JD Gyms. Plans would 'enhance vitality and viability' for Edinburgh West Retail Park.

Changes would include forming a ground floor in the unit. Planners have said the unit spans over 698 square metres.

The facility includes a main area with cardio machines, a free weights section and toning area. There's also changing rooms, shower facilities and saunas.

It will sit between an Aldi supermarket and Marks & Spencer food hall. A noise assessment was carried out, which states the proposed gym operations are 'unlikely to cause adverse impact to nearby residents'.
