ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An Atlanta woman is using her recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis to spread awareness and help others battling the disease hold onto hope that someday a cure will be found.

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s, and by 20-50, that number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Making a to-do list is now a must for Andrea Lucas.

“I was always great with facts, remembering information,” Lucas said.

With decades of experience in marketing, Lucas never struggled to complete a task or find the words when leading or speaking in a meeting.

“I started finding out that I couldn’t answer the question quickly,” Lucas said. “Not having the ability to be straightforward and direct with an answer.”
