The legendary wheeler-dealer and pirate radio icon, Chabuddy G, has issued an urgent warning. According to research from Remitly, nearly a third (32%) of Brits surveyed would consider using a practice known as hawala.
Hawala is particularly popular within the South Asian community, where just over one in four (28%) still rely on informal methods to send cash abroad, despite 35% being aware of its risks. A fifth (21%) within the South Asian community admit they know someone who's suffered a financial loss using a hawala network.
