Tropical Storm Melissa is likely to form Tuesday in the Caribbean Sea, becoming the 13th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

The ABC Islands could see heavy rainfall and strong winds over the next day or two, while Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Cuba could see heavy rain, flooding, and rough surf later this week as the system continues to move across the Caribbean, the National Hurricane Center said.

Tracking Tropical Storm Melissa

As of 8 a.m., Invest 98L (future Tropical Storm Melissa) was in the Caribbean Sea, south of Jamaica, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, the NHC said. Satellite, radar, and surface observations show that the system is becoming better defined and has a well-defined center.

Tropical Storm Melissa is expected to form sometime on Tuesday.
